I am pleased to share my formal response to the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) SA’s Grow. Reform. Build. 26 State Election Platform. The UDIA has presented a thoughtful and detailed set of recommendations focused on expanding housing supply, improving planning efficiency, strengthening transparency, and delivering the enabling infrastructure South Australia urgently needs. Their platform reflects the expertise of an industry that employs more than 77,000 South Australians and plays a vital role in shaping the communities we live in.
Many of the UDIA’s priorities align closely with my Better Community, Safer Society, Stronger Economy framework, particularly in the areas of infrastructure delivery, contestability to boost market capacity, transparent and accountable planning systems, and stable taxation settings that support housing affordability. I also welcome the opportunity to progress my policy to establish a Public–Private Partnerships (PPP) Commissioner, which complements the UDIA’s call for greater collaboration and support for private‑sector led solutions.
I look forward to continuing constructive engagement with the UDIA to explore practical, evidence‑based reforms that help unlock land supply, strengthen industry confidence, and ensure more South Australians can access safe, affordable, and well‑serviced housing across our State.
