Five decades of honouring outstanding citizens who have made Australia a better place, building a better community at the SA Branch Christmas Morning Tea!
What a wonderful way to wrap up the year, sharing a festive morning at the Goodwood Community Centre with the board and members of the Order of Australia Association to mark this incredible milestone.
Since 1975, the Australian Honours System has recognised thousands of Australians whose service and achievements have shaped our nation and inspired generations.
The Order of Australia Association plays an important role in keeping these values alive. It brings together recipients, celebrates excellence and encourages Australians to give back through community service and leadership.
The Order of Australia Association (OAA) South Australia (SA) Branch is the state chapter of the national organization for recipients of the Order of Australia honors, promoting good citizenship and community service through fellowship, events and programs like the Student Citizenship Awards, aiming to recognize and encourage outstanding contributions to Australia. SA branch is led by Chairman Tony Metcalf OAM, well supported by dedicated committee members including Cathy Chong OAM. Thank you Aunty Cathy for hosting us.

It was wonderful to hear from Guest Speaker, Rachael Zaltron OAM - Founder, Backpacks 4 SA Kids - 2024 SA LOCAL HERO Award Winner.,
Under Rachael’s leadership, Backpacks 4 SA Kids provides backpacks with age-appropriate emergency clothing, toiletries and other necessary supplies for children aged 0 to 16 years who are taken into care, need to quickly leave their homes due to family violence or experiencing homelessness. They have expanded their services to help the most vulnerable kids and families.
Great to catch up with so many board members and friends who are doing amazing work. Thank you for your leadership and service.
