II am pleased to share my formal response to the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA) 2026 Election Platform. SAWIA has outlined a comprehensive set of priorities ahead of the 2026 State Election, highlighting the significant pressures facing South Australia’s wine industry - including structural imbalance, market volatility, rising production costs, export challenges, and the need for stronger domestic demand and regional support.
In responding to their platform, I acknowledge the critical role our growers, winemakers, regional businesses, and workforce play in shaping South Australia’s identity, economy and global reputation.
SAWIA’s priorities strongly align with my commitment to building a Better Community, Safer Society, Stronger Economy. Their focus on industry transition, workforce capability, export diversification, and regional resilience reflects our shared belief that community wellbeing, fair regulatory settings, and economic strength must go hand‑in‑hand. By supporting local producers, strengthening industry‑led pathways, expanding market access, and ensuring practical, evidence‑based regulation, we help protect regional jobs, sustain families, and secure one of South Australia’s most valuable sectors.
As we approach the 2026 State Election, I remain committed to constructively engaging with industry voices like SAWIA. Supporting a future‑ready, competitive and resilient wine industry benefits every region - and contributes to a stronger, safer and more prosperous South Australia.
